• Title your vehicle in Virginia. If you are in the military, you must check with the state in which you already have your
vehicle titled. It might be necessary to change the title to Virginia depending on the laws of your home state.

• Register your vehicle and obtain Virginia license plates. Just like with the title, if you are in the military, you must
check with the state in which you already have your vehicle registered. Again, it might be necessary to change the
title to Virginia depending on the laws of your home state.

• Obtain a local sticker or decal if required by locality in which you live. Contact your local city hall, county
courthouse or administrative office for more information. Military employees are required to have a sticker from the
city in which they live. However, the city should waive costs and personal property taxes if you verify military
  employment.

If you have further questions, you should contact your local DMV at 461-1919. If you are in the military, you can contact Navy Family Services at 433-2912 (Virginia Beach) or 444-2102 (Norfolk).
